An unprejudiced solution was found for senior citizens in Lahti

In Lahti, a Remoted robot bus transported senior citizens to services with the assistance of a safety driver.

Aiming to make travel easier

The robot bus experiment was carried out in Lahti in autumn 2023 in cooperation between the local public transport operator Lahden Seudun Liikenne (LSL) and Remoted. The aim of the project was to improve the accessibility of the area and diversify mobility, especially for senior citizens living at the Wanha Herra Wellbeing Centre. The robot bus supported the senior citizens’ access to the city hospital, shops and services.

More than 500 passengers per month

The robot bus had a safety driver who also assisted the customers. The service was well received and there were enough passengers for every journey. The service was used by more than 500 passengers per month.

The customers appreciated the possibility of getting to run their errands independently. The route between service points was praised. The quietness and stability of the ride were also appreciated. Pleasant conversation between fellow passengers and the safety driver were also considered a big plus and to make life richer.
